Walking down King Street in Newtown, one of Sydney's oldest suburbs, one's senses can become completely overwhelmed. Despite its colourful boutiques and a seemingly endless array of second-hand book stores, it's the tastebuds that really get the work-out with the strip's vast line of culinary delights. I've walked King Street many times and have counted over 140 pubs, restuarants and cafes along it.

These never stay static either. Constantly changing, upgrading, renaming and expanding one can always expect a new gastronomic adventure to greet them when visiting King Street.

Well, I'm determined to end that and achieve the near impossible: to feast from every restaurant/cafe/bar on King Street and live to tell the tale.

Chill Cafe

@ 477 King Street, Newtown

Situated on a corner halfway between Newtown and St Peter's stations is this little shamble of a cafe. I say this in the nicest possible way. Its floorboards seem loose, its chairs and tables slightly rickety and its atmosphere lingers with history.

There are seats on the inside, but the best view is on the outside. Joggers and pet walkers drop by for a quick drink before starting their day. I dropped by for a drink and some toast. The service was good, the outfits were cute and the food was nice. For a Saturday morning, the placed got packed quite quickly and though the girls were run off their feet they did a fantastic job in catering for everyone's needs.

I ordered peanut buttered toast and a latte. Both came in good time and tasted nice, the peanut butter even tasted home made-though don't quote me on that in case I'm mistaken!
